Here are a few horse racing tip that you can follow in order to cash in.
- Only wager if you think the horse has a decent chance of winning the race.
- If you do not like a certain horse, for whatever reason, don’t wager on it.
- It is better to bet on a horse that has won before, as there is a better chance that they will be in the winner’s circle again.
- Do not bet on a horse that has recently moved up in class.
- Look for value odds with horses as much as you do with winners. By looking for value odds on horses more often the more you will be able to find them.
- Check for horses that have a decent chance of winning and are not backed too much. In the long run this type of bet is generally a good value one. For example, if there are odds of 10/1 you will need to win the race one time just to break-even and if you win more it is a profit. If handicappers or services back a horse they can win more, but they tend not to be good value bets.
- If there is a slow or heavy track it is a good idea to bet on horses that are fast starting ones. Horses that start strong generally win races that are held on bad track conditions.
- A straight bet in a horse race is not that hard to win, so bet on it but you should put more weight on the odds. Do not wager on favorites and long shots, as you should choose carefully.
- If the odds are relatively high it is a good idea, when making straight bets, to bet to win and show.
- If a few minutes before a race starts you see a horse being backed heavily and the odds do down, you should bet on it. This shows that there is legit info about the horse that they have a good chance of winning.
- When choosing horses to bet on it is always a good idea to pick ones that ran in races recently. A horse that has not been in a race for some time may not be in form may be injured, or sick. It does not matter how the horse did in their last race, if they have not run in some time there is a good chance they will not place well.
- Give more weight to a jockey that has experience running in longer distances. The ability of a jockey has more importance the longer the race is. Many jockeys can break a horse quickly and that is beneficial in shorter races and most of their wins are in these types of races. However, in longer distance races they tend to not do as well. This is not because the lack of ability but rather because they do not have the experience to judge the race pace. A jockey that is experienced will better be able to judge the pace of the race. It is also better to give more weight to experienced jockey in hurdle races.
